Watercolour on Yupo
DATE & TIME
May 30-31, 2020 (2-Day workshop)
9:30am – 4:00pm
McTavish Academy of Art
1720 McTavish Rd, North Saanich
An opportunity to learn about the importance of composition, stretching watercolour paper, masking and watercolour pouring techniques. Learn to create beautiful, glowing, sunny winter or summer landscapes.
Yupo is a synthetic, tree-free paper with a very silky surface and is waterproof. The paint tends to flow and blend with a mind of its own. It’s fun, different and a little challenging – but the outcome is worth it!
ARTIST BIO – Tamra Sheline
“Getting out in the nature is good for the soul.“
As an artist in the Pacific Northwest, I am drawn to the details and saturated colors of nature. With wildlife and florals, I tend to lean towards micro views. I also love painting landscapes and mountain-scapes.
I work mainly with watercolor on Yupo which is a recycled, waterproof (plastic) paper. I enjoy the challenge of creating techniques as I go. I show in galleries, love participating in art fairs and enjoy instructing Yupo workshops. You will occasionally find me painting with acrylics on canvas and teaching art parties both public and private. I have a graphic design and illustrating background, so composition and perspective are very important to me.
My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.
