Become a Member

Are held on the first Monday of each month (except January and July-September) at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney. In addition to brief SPAC business reports, each meeting includes a Guest Speaker/Artist, member-featured artwork from various workshops, refreshments, socialization and door prizes!

Meeting times:

  • October, April, May and June: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • November, December, February and March: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • January Social: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Is renowned for its long-running, members-only, non-juried Art Exhibition and Sale – held in April at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, BC.

To be an exhibiting artist at the Show, your membership application and payment must have been received by December 31 at midnight of the previous year.

Workshops-by-the-Sea

Are extended, in-depth training workshops, by well-known and acclaimed artists. WSBTS also has a 4-day Artist Retreat in September – a great relaxing, get-away, where the focus is on art, comradery and relaxation. The Annual calendar is available online.

Point of View Challenge

Each year, SPAC hosts our POV. After voting for one of several photographs submitted by the Sidney Shutterbugs, members create their own interpretation of the photo. Delightfully creative, the results are exhibited at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.

February Mini-Workshops

Every February, members flock to the fabulous Mini-Workshops. These 3 hour classes are run by SPAC members and cover everything from fun crafts to advanced techniques. Seats fill up fast within the first few days of being offered!

Central Saanich Branch Library Exhibition

Hosts an ongoing, rotating exhibit of the work of SPAC’s talented members.

Is SPAC’s Internal Newsletter which is e-mailed to members monthly from January to December (except during the summer hiatus from July to September, inclusive). It is an informative and interesting journal of SPAC’s activities and includes News, General meeting minutes, updates from various SPAC Board Chairs, and more.

Meet other members by helping out at events and meetings, shadowing or being mentored by board members, joining a team of volunteers for various SPAC run events or activities or using your computer, writing or organization skills to help other SPAC members. Learn and help at the same time, it is so rewarding. Find out what it takes to organize and successfully run a large arts organization, where every contribution small or large is appreciated.

Every year we honor two of our current SPAC members for their exceptional dedication and volunteer service to SPAC with the Andrew Stuart Outstanding Member Service Award. Recipients can use the funding to further their studies in an area related to visual arts.
