C.C. Thomas Award
The C.C. Thomas Student Award honours the memory of a founding member, C.C. Thomas, of the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society. It was established in 1972 to encourage young people with creative interests and abilities to further their studies in the areas related to visual arts.
The award takes the form of two $1,000 scholarships to assist with expenses relating to pursuing visual arts after high school graduation. Award recipients are invited to exhibit their recent work in the SPAC Spring Show held in April each year at Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney BC.
Value of the Award
The award is valued at $1,000 payable to the student upon receipt of confirmation of acceptance into a post-secondary institution/art academy within two years from graduation. There will be two applicants winners selected each year.
2024 Award Winner
Eligibility Criteria
Preference will be given to a student graduating in the current school term (June 2025) from a School District 63 school (Claremont, Stelly’s and Parklands) and who plans on pursuing further studies in visual arts or crafts.
All application requirements must be met by the deadline stated for this award.
Previous winners are not eligible.
Application Requirements
To be considered for this award, applicants must submit the following:
- Completed application form.
- 2 to 5 pieces of work produced within the last two years. Digital portfolios are acceptable.
- A written submission letter explaining why the applicant should receive this award.
- A brief description of their favourite piece.
All artworks will be collected from the applicant’s school and returned to that school after adjudication takes place.C.C. Thomas Student Scholarship Award
