President’s Message

We have come through the summer break dealing with Covid-19 and are now ready to embark on another season of art activities.  We are working hard to come up with new ideas that will keep us all involved in our love of art and challenge our creativity.  We have also been developing Covid-19 guidelines for all SPAC activities.

See the rest of the message here.

Our AGM is normally held in October, but the following decision has been issued from the BC government Registrar:

British Columbia Societies May Postpone 2020 AGMs until November 2021

In a further step to assist BC societies in managing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the British Columbia Registrar of Companies (the “Registrar”) issued a decision extending the period of time in which societies may hold their 2020 annual general meetings (“AGMs”) to November 2021.”

We will keep members updated when we make a decision on where and when the next AGM will be held.

Other Activities

Workshops by the Sea:  We are pleased to announce that the first members’ workshop for this season is fully booked.  These will continue to be a wonderful at-cost benefit for members.

Mini Workshops:  These fabulous classes held throughout the month of February will be continued again this year.  Members will be notified when and how to sign up.

Note: The workshop teams are developing a classroom cleaning protocol to ensure a hygienic environment.  Masks and sanitizer use will be required.

Point of View Challenge: This project, which is based on photos from the Sidney Shutterbugs club, continues to be one of the most loved of our projects, both by the member artists and the public.  Members will be kept informed of the details for the coming year.

ArtChat: Our monthly publication will continue to be a great source of information for SPAC members.  A September issue was most recently sent out.

Monthly Meetings: These will continue as soon as we can provide a healthy and safe environment for our members. In the meantime, we are looking at things like organizing virtual meetings, investigating a private Facebook page for members only, online demos featuring member artists, and even future online art courses are possibilities being considered.

SPAC SHOW 2021:  We are all committed to doing our best to produce a show that will meet our usual, expected high standards while conforming to public health regulations.

2021 might be a year of changes and opportunities as we find new ways to enjoy and feature our work.
